Ralph Fegan
Topics: Wanaka Station, the General Store, Wānaka Airport, NASA balloon programme, community groups and events
He wasn’t born in Wānaka, but Ralph Fegan’s connections with the town run deep. As a youngster he visited his grandfather, who managed Wanaka Station, and spent countless school holidays working with his uncles who operated Wanaka’s General Store on Ardmore Street. As an adult he relocated from the West Coast to Wānaka to establish the Wanaka Connexions transport business, followed by a 17 year career with the Wānaka Airport, including the establishment of the NASA balloon programme. Ralph is widely known in the district, serving with the RSA and the Fire Service, as an A&P Show volunteer, a Justice of the Peace, a wedding celebrant and funeral coordinator.
