Rod Anderson
Topics: Albert Town punt, farming, community, fire service, Luggate
Rod Anderson’s Upper Clutha history goes back to his great grandfather, who arrived in Otago in 1879 and worked as punt master on the Albert Town punt. Later, the family moved onto a farm at Mt Barker where Rod was raised and continues to work part time.
Rod has held several different jobs in the agricultural industry and describes his love of the farming lifestyle. He holds a deep interest in the local community. His involvement with the Luggate Lucerne factory and a 50 year history with the Luggate Fire Service, for which he received a QSM, stand out and are discussed in depth. Referring to his life-long level of contribution to the community, Rod says, “it is just what you do”.
