Catherine Little - Life in Upper Clutha

Topics: Cardrona, schooling, WWII, community, historic life, Presbyterian Church and her time as Deaconess and Minister

Catherine Little lived in the Cardrona Valley in the 1940s where her father worked on the Waiorau Station for the Lee Family. Catherine recalls her schooling; the farewell and welcome home events during WWII and the strong sense of community in the Cardrona before her family moved to Queenstown. She later trained to be a Deaconess and then a fully ordained Presbyterian Minister, and from 1981 – 2002, she was the Minister for the Upper Clutha Area. During that time a new building was built for the Presbyterian Church, which is still a centre for many community events.
