Dunedin-born Graham moved permanently to Luggate in 1984, working for Upper Clutha Transport. He maintained a lifelong involvement in music, rockhound activities and jewellery-making. A keen angler, along with Jim Booth, he started the Luggate Fishing competition in 1969 which is now an annual event.
