Topics: Puzzling World, tourism, construction
From hammering 24,000 nails by hand to creating one of New Zealand’s iconic attractions, Stuart Landsborough shares the remarkable story behind Puzzling World. Wānaka had a population of just 800 people and no ski fields when Stuart built the original part of the Maze in 6 weeks and opened in December 1973.
For his recreation, and time out from Puzzling World, he used a grubber and a spade to carve out a track on Rocky Mountain. He shares tales of hard work, lost tools, spectacular views, and how he created another activity that is very popular with both locals and tourists.
