Marie Lewis
Topics: Ferryman’s Cottage, community, regional development, family life
Marie Lewis and her partner Bryan Llyod fell in love with the house at 4 Arklow Street in Albert Town, now known as Ferryman's Cottage, when in 2003 they went looking for a new home in the Wānaka area.
The desired house needed to have 3 key criteria. They wanted to love living in it themselves, they wanted it to have excellent Airbnb potential, and it must have a garden they could make beautiful.
In this conversation Marie shares all she has learnt about the house since its construction in the mid-1870s, its previous inhabitants, the range of renovations and changes the house has undergone over several generations and how she sees its current fit within the local community.
