Topics: Family life, education, community groups, Autumn Art School
Susan, a lifelong Wānaka local, describes childhood memories, her teacher mother, and her father’s garage, fire brigade work, and early Treble Cone tow servicing. She recounts family connections, everyday food and shopping, and limited holidays. After high school, she developed her art and fiber crafts, joining the Wānaka Spinners and Weavers, dyeing and selling handmade work. She worked with Rosemary Jones, helped run an artisans’ co-op, has managed the Sunday craft market since 1998, and has long supported the Autumn Art School and Community Arts Council grants.
